O Veneno Está na Mesa

Para viabilizar o modo de produção agrícola em larga escala, pesticidas são pulverizados em lavouras de forma indiscriminada. O Brasil é o país que mais consome agrotóxicos: 5,2 litros/ano por habitante. Muitos desses herbicidas, fungicidas e pesticidas estão proibidos em quase todo mundo pelo risco que representam à saúde pública. Trabalhadores rurais e populações de zonas agrícolas são atingidos diretamente e têm altos índices de câncer e suicídio, mas o perigo está na mesa de todos os brasileiros. <span class="fst-italic">To make large-scale agricultural production viable, pesticides are sprayed indiscriminately on crops. Brazil is the country that consumes the most pesticides: 5.2 liters/year per inhabitant. Many of these herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides are banned in most of the world due to the risk they pose to public health. Metade dos alimentos consumidos no Reino Unido é produzida por cerca de 180 mil agricultores, que gerenciam 70% das terras. A dona de casa Rosalba é uma mulher dócil e bastante apegada a seu marido e filhos. Certo dia, durante uma excursão de ônibus em família, ela é esquecida pelos outros em um restaurante de beira de estrada. Sozinha, com pouco dinheiro e perdida, ela decide tirar o melhor da situação e parte rumo a Veneza para tirar férias por tempo indeterminado.
